Cool pic from Toyota...

These just seem really old and bloated to me. Even compared to the somewhat refreshed Expedition (that I love) and plain archaic when compared to the new GM triplets.

For the money, they just don’t seem like a good buy brand in 2016. I mean, just look at the interior.

I imagine that there's quite a bit of cash on the hood for these, but both the tundra and sequoia are ancient. Toyota used to be one of the manufacturers that refreshed the quickest.

Fun fact, the 2016 Yaris still uses the same powertrain as the 1999 Toyota Echo. I guess reliability makes up for that though.

Pretty much the entire Toyota truck line needs to be refreshed. Not that they are bad vehicles, because they aren’t at all, but they are all way past their “best by” dates.

Land Cruiser - 10 model years old, Refreshed but nearly the end of its product cycle

Tundra - 10 model years old, Refreshed but nearly the end of its product cycle

Sequoia - 9 model years old barely refreshed at all

Tacoma - “all new” truck based heavily on the outgoing model

4runner - 8 model years old, refreshed with a few more useful years left.

I was riding in a co-worker’s newer Tundra last week and that 5.7 V8 sure does sound mighty fine.

Regardless, I’d say that both the Tundra and Sequoia are quite dated.

Heck, Toyota did a so-so (IMO) job refreshing the Tacoma too.

That’s just impressive that a nearly 2 decade old motor can still pass emissions and still be viable. I can’t even hate. Time to search CL for 99 echos.

Same. I’ve heard it in a new Tundra and it was so much better than I could I would have guessed.

Oh, I’m sure. No one should pay 45k for a 2WD full-size SUV that gets 14 mpg and came out 9 years ago. Let alone 65k+ for the Platinum.

At least with the Tundra, they updated the interior and it’s passable. This, however, is terrible. I don’t know how people pony up the cash for this beast when other trucks are so much better/newer.

I know it. I’m waiting for the day they go “crazy” and update them all.

I will say that the changes made to the Tundra make it passable. The 4Runner & Tacoma look and feel pretty modern. I know not top of the class but they don’t feel as bad a Sequoia.

Yeah, the 4runner and Tacoma are pretty “fresh” compared to the rest and frankly perfectly acceptable. The Land Cruiser is perfectly fine in its refreshed oldnessThe Tundra is way long in the tooth, even if the aesthetics are up to date (ish)

No question. It’s funny to look at how Toyota thinks they compare against competitors like the Tahoe and Silverado.

One thing it really shows is just how far the competition has come in terms of FE. The Toyotas top out at 17mpg highway and the competition is 22mpg+.

This class of SUV has become unbelievably large. It’s crazy. Gives them serious road presence tho if nothing else

The nav/radio/etc. is so far from the driver ... the person that uses it. Great design.

I was at the Toyota dealer on Friday. Saw an older couple (60's probably) drive off in a brand new purple Sequoia Limited.
